Australian Urology Team to visit Chuuk, Pohnpei and Majuro

A volunteer medical team from The Pacific Islands Project, which is funded by the Australian Government through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and managed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, will be visiting the Federated States of Micronesia and Republic of the Marshall Islands this month.

The team will provide urological surgeries at Chuuk State Hospital from November 15-21, at the Pohnpei State Hospital from November 22-25, and at the Majuro Hospital from November 27 to December 1.
Volunteers include Dr. Donald Moss, who specializes in urological surgery, Anaesthetist Dr. Duncan Phillips, and Nurse Joy Taylor.

The aim of the project is to work as closely as possible with local doctors and medical staff to help develop their skills in order to continue to provide these vital medical services in the future.

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons would like to thank the hospital personnel in each location that assisted with the logistical support and also thank Qantas and Continental Airways for their assistance with the transport of the equipment/supplies that will be used by the Urology Team.
